25 December 2008 in the ancient Russian city of Yaroslavl, in the Regional State Philharmonic Hall a unique concert program was presented. There were popular melodies — works by Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saëns, Bizet, Bach, Schubert, Mozart - as well as works by contemporary composer Karl Jenkins. It was a remarkable, unprecedented performance. Together with the chamber quartet, a symphony orchestra and a choir there was ... a trio of glass instruments on stage.
It was a bold, risky experiment — to combine a gentle, almost murmured voice crystal with exuberant energy of an orchestra and a choir. But Igor Sklyarov, Vladimir Popras and Vladimir Perminov as well as conductor Dmitry Volosnikov found that narrow path, which helped them to ascend to the heights of genuine Art. An exciting Agunda Kulaeva’s mezzo-soprano and Ludmila Yanchishina’s Harp made the sound more voluminous and alive…
Dmitry Volosnikov, conductor:
“As my teacher Yevgeny Kolobov, said, “Silence is the best music”. And these delicate instruments forced the audience to pay attention: music, silence, mysterious sound of crystal... A Project was born: I love all things unusual, everything that touches the soul and helps to deepen the feelings. And most important was that the orchestra, the choir and soloists felt it”.
Crystal Trio's music is a fragile bridge what thrown into our dismal reality from another, timeless and true peace, where every thing sounds and has its own voice.
